  • If there are any donations, they can be placed on the donations shelves of Stacks cupboards 3 and 4. You can process donations if comfortable doing so. A post for processing donations is available.

  • Read the shelves and check if books are on the correct shelves. Make sure books are the right way round with covers facing outwards for picture books and the spines visible for other books.

A post is available with instructions.  When going through inventory and finding books (Fiction and Non Fiction) if the book has not been checked out since it was added to the catalogue (this can be seen by clicking on Lending and checking record) and if it was published over 5 years ago, is not a bestseller or prize winner, it can be deleted from the catalogue. Children’s books can be deleted if they are damaged or have pages missing.

  • Check overdue books list and see if any books are on the shelves. Books overdue by 6 months can be deleted from the overdue list and catalogue.

  • Check display cart for any gaps and fill if necessary. The theme of the display changes monthly according to the literary reading events.  There is a post available with the reading events calendar with the theme and tags for books to go on the display cart. Volunteers are encouraged to put their recommendations related to the theme on the cart. If there is no reading event going on, then volunteer recommendations can be placed on the display cart.

  •  Bring in library sign and dog water bowl at end of day.

  • Help stack cafe chairs at the end of the day (Afternoon shift) if needed.
