As of Saturday 19 October, the library cafe will open at 0900 to offer coffee to parkrunners and any other thirsty passersby.
The two Saturday baristas will arrive at 0830 to prepare the cafe for service. The start time for Saturday Library Desk volunteers remains 1000. Please arrive a little before the start of your shift to get the computer fired up and prepare the newspapers, etc, as normal.
The library will close at 1400. As you know, we’ve found it difficult to find volunteers for Saturday afternoons, so this will ease the pressure on that front. It will also mean the library is available for hire to patrons who want to put on their own events.
You may find this news disappointing. The change in hours will be a trial period until the end of the year. If you are keen to volunteer in the afternoons on a Saturday, make sure you sign up for a shift when we reopen after Christmas when the temporary timetable will revert to closing at 1600 if the opening hour change is unpopular.
