The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that the front window is displaying a blue sign alerting the public to the existence of our pending New Premises License Application.

In case you get questions about it, you need to know the following:

We have been running monthly music nights, with a licensed bar, on the last Friday of every month for the last two and a half years. Up to now we have applied monthly for a TEN (Temporary Event Notice) to cover these activities. We now wish to start monthly film screenings and since there is a limit on the number of TENS licenses you can apply for in a year, we are applying for a blanket license in the form of the Club Premises License.

The new license, if granted, will not mean that we are likely to become more disruptive to our neighbours than before – it doesn’t change the type of activity, the type of people likely to attend, the operating hours (we have to finish at 9pm) or any other aspect of what we’re doing.

If people have comments to make, they should do so directly to Brent Licensing department (details on the notice).

The activities we want to run (music nights, film shows) are an important way for us to raise funds and support the ongoing work of the library.
